There is a race that will keep you panting nonstop. At one point you are gasping for breath to climb a very steep road and at the other, you are panting for the bicycle ride of your life. Also in another pace, you are swimming as fast as you can. These are the basics of a triathlon.
Situated in the Mid Atlantic, the place is perfect testing area for optimum endurance, stamina, and strength. Savageman Triathlon is a festival for triathletes and at the same time, a treat for them because of the marvelous vistas surrounding the tracks. About a thousand athletes are welcomed to the competition but only one will be hailed as the champion.
One thousand athletes are registered in the event but only one gets to be the most savage of them all. The event starts at the Deep Creek Lake, which is the swimming course. The athletes are expected to swim at an allocated time and reach the lake side for the next trail. The bicycle trail is very challenging yet the roads are really smooth allowing the bike to run fast. This is in Garret County where the Allegheny Mountains can be seen. Finally, the running track is in the Deep Creek State Park.
Considered as the steepest of all climbs in the history of triathlon is the Westernport Wall climb. This is perhaps the most painstaking in the whole course, yet as the athletes ascend, they are paid with the pleasure of viewing the most beautiful sceneries in the place. This is indeed pain and pleasure.
It is a brutal climb but the amazing scenery, fun local folks in costume, crazy fun signs, and hundreds of tourist spectators make every step worthwhile. The record holder for the savage climb is Phillip Grave with thirty minutes and thirty two seconds. A lot of triathletes are set to defeat that record this year.
This can be one of the most brutal events but it also has a soft spot. It was organized to support the charitable foundation of Chesapeake Bay, which objective is to protect the watershed. Part of the proceeds will go to the foundation for research and development and other needs.
The main rule of the race is to finish the race within nine hours. The breakdown of hours include one hour and fifteen minutes for the swim, six hours for the bike, and seven point five hours for the run. If within five hours they have not reached the thirty ninth mile of the race, which is also called the Killer Miller, they will be disqualified from the competition.
There are race managers and medics available in assigned areas to decide whether or not to let the athlete go on with the race. Thus, if a participant wants to finish the entire course, he or she needs to train real hard to survive the savage event. Moreover, there are more beautiful vistas as they advance so they will not be able to see those if they are told to discontinue.
The schedule of the triathlon will be on September this year. The assembly will be in the morning at nine. The swim distance in miles is at one point two, the bike course is over fifty, and at approximately thirteen for the run trail.
